Depart from Hagerty Insurance in Golden, CO, or the Garden of the Gods Trading Post in Colorado Springs, depending on which is closer to your home. After a light breakfast and an orientation meeting, drive west on various specially chosen roads to Jefferson for our rendezvous with the other half of our group and on to Buena Vista for lunch. After lunch, we drive over the Continental Divide on Tennessee Pass to Beaver Creek to our dinner and overnight lodging in Avon, CO.

When we leave Avon at 9:30 we will take US 6 to avoid I-70 as much as possible, make a short (due to health concerns) visit to the kids at Roundup River Ranch, then to our lunch in Rifle CO. From there we take a whole set of interesting new roads around northwest Colorado and then revisit one of our old favorite roads to get to our dinner and overnight lodging in Steamboat Springs, CO. In another Driving for Kids update to tradition, we will spend two nights in the same lodging in Steamboat Springs, CO as we did last year so you can unpack once for the next two nights.

Depart about 9:00 on US 40 to Rabbit Ears Pass then north to our rest stop in Walden. We then go north into Wyoming to Saratoga & our special lunch stop at Bella’s Bistro, a fine Italian trattoria. After lunch, we will head east over spectacular Snowy Range Scenic Byway, for the majestic trip across one of Wyoming’s best roads. You’re gonna love this one! After a photo op at the top, we’ll stop at the Shell in Laramie then retrace our route to our same lodging in Steamboat Springs, CO. While this is a long day it won’t require packing and unpacking and is worth it for a drive you will put on your “best ever” list.

Depart about 10:00 south to Wolcott then over Gore Pass to our lunch in Kremmling. At lunch we will present our check to the camp and from there the Denver folks head east on US 40 to Granby, Winter Park and down to US 6 or continue all the way home on Interstate 70. Meanwhile, our Colorado Springs contingent heads south on CO 9 through Silverthorne, Breckenridge and Fairplay to US 24 and home.
That will finish the Seventh annual Driving for Kids Run.
You can be proud that you were with us for the most recent edition of this great event. See you next year.
